The Francisco Norte facilities, located in the center of Marbella, have added a new sports equipment area where different disciplines can be practiced for all types of audiences. From functional training, able to adapt to the needs of any user, whatever their fitness level, to demanding gymnastic exercises, doing innovative proposals such as table tennis, a mixture between table tennis and football played on an approved table where passes are made with football without Use of hands or arms.

This new outdoor space was inaugurated this Monday in a function attended by the Mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, Sports Councilor, Manuel Cardena, and Business Consultant, Diego López. Also participating in the premiere were the users of the municipal classes, who exercised, taking advantage of the sunny morning.

Cardeña specified that “in this area there are calisthenics, a trx training area, multi-track sports and ping-pong tables, as well as the four paddle tennis courts in which the lawn and lighting have been renovated, an ice hockey rink and all the already existing locker room and concierge facilities.” “In addition, the artificial turf floor has areas that are painted to be able to program circuits, plyometric training, or reaction speed. Thus, “the Marbella Center has a versatile, dynamic and modern equipment that will ease our demand”, he stressed at the same time that “the idea is that the classes run by the sports delegation and that we do through the Ciudad Deportiva program are taught here.

This sports equipment included an investment of €145,000 which rises to €240,000 when including perimeter fencing, ramp construction and direct access to the IES Río Verde, which is adjacent to these facilities, so that their students can take advantage of them.

Muñoz noted that “Francesco Norte was a football field that was sold during the GIL era and lost the quality of its equipment until an agreement was reached with the current owners and with those who run the underground car park to make the surface sports equipment.” It has an area of 1,700 square meters, which has been added to what already exists.

The goal is to provide neighborhoods with sports spaces that are rent-free and easily accessible, which is why multiple baskets and paths have been placed in different parts of the city to create a network of neighborhood facilities. “We are still betting on the presence of facilities in all areas of our municipality,” Muñoz concluded.

The City Council will be giving guided lessons in this new space in Francisco Norte. /
