Maddy Balai, a 26-year-old woman who shared her battle with terminal cancer using the TikTok platform, died on May 1. The news was confirmed by her fiance Louis Risher, who told PEOPLE that his girlfriend “spent her last moments in peace and surrounded by love.”

Because of his openness and confidence, Baloy's videos recorded on his social network were followed by thousands of users. The decision to document a difficult phase in her life allowed her to find strength at a young age, while also inspiring other patients dealing with the disease.

Maddy Baloy's life changed dramatically in the summer of 2022 when she began experiencing severe stomach problems. After more than a year of modifying her diet and searching for solutions, on February 22, 2023, worsening symptoms brought Maddie face to face with reality. During emergency surgery, doctors found multiple cancerous tumors pressing on his large intestine.

Faced with initial predictions of five years to live, the young woman chose to document and share her struggle and experiences through Tiktok, a decision that made her a popular figure in the community and a beacon of light for the many she shared. Similar situations.

“I felt alone and isolated,” Baloy admitted in an interview with People. In that conversation, he emphasized the importance of expressing “every emotion we can while we're here because we don't have much time.”
