In detail, Trump posted on his Twitter account the video: “You have to go home, we need peace. The order must be resolved. We must respect the wonderful law enforcement staff.”

He continued, “We do not want anyone to be injured. This is a difficult time. It has never happened before.”

“We need peace. Go home. We love you. You are special. You saw what happened. I feel your pain, but you have to go home.”

Trump’s speech came at a tumultuous time in the US capital, Washington, as a crowd of President Trump supporters stormed the congressional building.

The Washington Municipality announced a curfew in the capital from 6pm until the next morning.

US President-elect Joe Biden has appeared on television calling on Donald Trump to end the protests.

He said in a televised address: “I urge Trump to appear before national television, defend the constitution and put an end to these protests.”

He continued, “The world is witnessing what is happening now. I say my word to Trump: Action!”
