For more women in science and technology: The Ministry of Science has launched a new series of booklets containing biographies of Chilean researchers

Forty thousand copies will be distributed across the country to spread the story of 26 Chilean researchers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics as a way to promote knowledge of these fields in girls and adolescents.

That more girls and adolescents are aware of the research conducted by Chilean women in STEM fields, and become interested in generating knowledge in these subjects, is the goal of “Inspiradoras,” a new collection of authors. Booklets launched by the Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation with support from the Ministry of Women and Gender Equality.

It is a series of four booklets that tell the story of 26 women (six per booklet) and whose last pages contain experiments and/or exercises to be carried out. Each book is titled with a letter from the abbreviation STEM, which in English stands for science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

For the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Science, Carolina Ginza, this initiative “highlights the work that women do in various fields of research and also allows us to motivate more girls and adolescents to become interested and dedicate themselves to working in these areas in the future.” “Research fields.” «Today we Women need to be able to contribute to generating knowledge in these and other fields, and therefore we hope that these booklets that we will distribute across the country, in libraries, schools and other places, will be a source of inspiration for girls and young people,” he added.

On the contrary, fields of knowledge have no gender and it is very important to take into account everyone’s opinions to advance development. “I hope that these booklets, which showcase women from various fields of research contributing knowledge of national and even international importance, will motivate our girls and young women to follow in their footsteps.”

Inspiring

Four booklets (10,000 of each letter) were produced containing biographies of inspiring Chilean women in various disciplines, of different ages and present throughout the country. Each booklet contains six biographies with illustrations, pedagogical statements and entries, field notes style, with exploration or experimentation activities, designed for girls, boys and adolescents, and will be distributed to the school audience through PAR Explora projects in the activities they carry out during the year, and also by Ceremis.
