Firing at AICM causes panic

Shots were fired at AICM’s Terminal 1 this afternoon, triggering panic among passengers and mobilizing the capital’s police.

Events obtained from a police operation in the vicinity of Carlos Leon Avenue, an officer was injured, while the aggressor was arrested.

Airport sources told Reforma that a subject identified as part of a gang robbing currency exchange users at AICM was found by the authorities, so when he saw him being chased, he fled, was chased and then fired upon.

“Minutes ago, Mexico City police officers engaged in a confrontation near Carlos Leon Avenue in pursuit of suspected criminals, resulting in the injury of one police officer and the detention of another.

“Security devices of Navy, Airport Security and Auxiliary Police were activated immediately. No passengers or visitors were in danger. Relevant judicial authorities are now active,” AICM said.

According to initial reports, the explosions were at Gate 2 of Terminal 1, where at least two shell casings were shelled.

The task force rushed to the spot after receiving the information and the traffic in the area was affected.
