Former NBA center DeMarcus Cousinswill be a new reinforcement of Guaynabo Mets In National Superior Basketball (BSN).
Cousins, a four-time NBA All-Star from 2014 to 2018, averaged 19.6 points and 10.2 rebounds in 654 games.
He is a two-time All-NBA (2015 and 2016).
The Mets confirmed the news with a press release on Tuesday. El Nuevo Día learned that Guaynabo will make his debut in uniform next week.

During the 2016–17 season, he was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans. He then signed as a free agent in 2018-19 Golden State Warriors and anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. He is not the same player again.
He had brief stints with the Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks and Denver Nuggets.
As the Mets noted in the press release, Cousins won gold medals as a member of the U.S. National Team at the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympics, but has never played in a foreign basketball league. He announced his decision to sign with the Mets on Monday night.
In 2015, he joined Wilt Chamberlain and Elgin Baylor as the only players to record 20 points, 20 rebounds and 10 assists in consecutive games. In addition, in 2018 he became the fifth player in NBA history to score 40 points, 20 rebounds and 10 assists in a game.
In 2019, he was part of the Warriors team that lost the NBA Finals to the Toronto Raptors in six games.
“DeMarcus is one of the best basketball players of his generation, and from a talent standpoint, he will be one of the best to play at BSN,” Mets co-owner Mark Grossman said in a statement. “His ability to shoot and open the floor should be a great fit for BSN’s fast-paced style of play. We are excited to introduce Guanabo and our fans to him.
Cousins is the latest player with extensive NBA experience to come to BSN. On the Quebratillas Pirates, Hassan Whiteside and Brandon Knight struggle as reinforcements.
The Mets, led by Omar Gonzalez, entered Tuesday with a 1-8 record, worst in the BSN and last in Division B.
