Danish progressive metal band KINETIC has signed an exclusive worldwide recording agreement with Eclipse Records, marking a significant milestone for the Kolding-based group as it prepares to release its debut full-length album, Liminal, on October 16, 2026.

The agreement comes after the band completed production on the forthcoming album, which follows its 2025 debut EP, Sentience. Founded in 2022 by guitarist David Thing and bassist Christian Heitmann, KINETIC has developed a sound that combines technical precision with atmospheric compositions and cinematic storytelling, establishing its identity within the progressive metal genre.

The band said the partnership with Eclipse Records was built on a shared understanding of its artistic vision and commitment to creative independence.

“We’re very honored to sign with Eclipse Records.” says keyboardist Marcus Levin, “it feels very natural since they recognized our vision and spirit immediately. They didn’t ask us to be louder, faster, or different. It’s very rare to find a label that truly values and respects patience, depth, and independence in music, and we’re proud and genuinely excited to be working with people who value music and creative storytelling as deeply as we do.”

Vocalist René Hougaard adds ” We’ve always been drawn to labels that embrace artistic identity, and Eclipse Records stood out immediately in that regard. From the beginning, they showed genuine enthusiasm for what we’re building, which made the decision easy.”

The upcoming album spans 106 minutes and has been developed as a concept album with a continuous narrative running from the opening track through to its conclusion. Rather than relying on conventional verse-and-chorus structures, KINETIC has opted for long-form compositions and cinematic arrangements designed to complement the album’s overarching storyline.

A central theme of Liminal is the Kardashev Scale, a theoretical framework proposed by astrophysicist Nikolai Kardashev that measures the technological advancement of a civilisation according to the amount of energy it can harness. The band uses this concept as the foundation for both the album’s lyrical content and musical direction, exploring scientific and philosophical ideas through expansive compositions.

According to the announcement, the album represents a significant progression from Sentience, expanding on the band’s blend of technical musicianship and atmospheric depth. The extended song structures allow the music to evolve alongside the narrative, creating an immersive listening experience intended to reflect the scale of the album’s conceptual themes.

Production, engineering, mixing and mastering duties for Liminal were handled by Frederik Uglebjerg, whose previous work includes collaborations with Galge, MØL, Trold and Isbjörg. The album artwork was created by Lasse H. Görlitz in partnership with Marcus H. Levin, providing the visual identity for the release.

The signing with Eclipse Records gives KINETIC a global platform as it prepares to introduce its debut full-length record to international audiences. The agreement also highlights Eclipse Records’ continued support for emerging artists within the progressive metal scene.

With Liminal scheduled for release on October 16, 2026, KINETIC is entering the next stage of its career with an ambitious project that combines conceptual storytelling, technical musicianship and cinematic arrangements. The album is expected to serve as the band’s first worldwide full-length release under Eclipse Records, positioning the Danish outfit for broader recognition within the international progressive metal community.
