Frustration in China: Protests against prisons 1:03

(CNN) – According to CNN estimates, at least 27 Chinese cities are completely or partially closed due to Govt-19, which could affect 165 million residents across the country.

At a conference on Wednesday afternoon, Beijing officials pointed out that 46 local Kovit-19 cases had been identified in the 24 hours between Tuesday and Wednesday at 4:00 pm, raising the total number of infections since April 22 to 138. The eruption was first detected.

More than half of Beijing’s total cases have been detected in the largest district, Chongqing, and officials say nearly a third were students. On Wednesday, Chaoyang conducted its second round of mass testing. The third round is scheduled for Friday.

The Chinese capital, Beijing, this week tested nearly 20 million residents in 12 districts after expanding mass testing due to rising cases. Currently, 5 areas of the city are listed as high risk areas and 16 areas as moderate hazards.

For their part, officials in the northeastern cities of Changchun and Jilin said the lockout would be gradually relaxed from Thursday after more than a month of restrictions, preventing residents from leaving their homes. The two cities with a population of more than 13.5 million were closed on March 11 and 21, respectively.

Since the beginning of March, more than 70,000 local cases have been registered between the two cities.
