Southeastern Wisconsin heavy rock band Carbellion has released its new single and music video, “I Don’t Want to Be Your Dog,” providing the first major preview of the group’s upcoming full-length album, This Is Our Style, scheduled for release on November 13, 2026, through Eclipse Records.
Directed by Kenny Boufadene of Studio Meltdown, the music video was filmed at the Dogs 2 Dog Tags charity training facility in Plymouth, Wisconsin. The video uses the location to explore themes of personal liberation, transformation and breaking away from destructive habits.
The song focuses on the exhaustion that can come from performing for others at the expense of self-respect. It also examines the pressures and expectations associated with the rock lifestyle and the decision to move away from reckless, self-destructive behavior.
“I Don’t Want to Be Your Dog” is the first of three music videos planned in support of Carbellion’s forthcoming album.
Music Video Connects Song’s Themes With Dogs 2 Dog Tags Facility
The Dogs 2 Dog Tags facility trains rescued and donated dogs before pairing them with veterans diagnosed with PTSD and anxiety. The setting also provided Carbellion with imagery that complemented the themes of the new song.
“We felt that choosing this song as the first single was a great way to introduce the new album to everyone with our up-tempo rock n’ roll style and high energy delivery.” explains vocalist Cameron Kellenberger.
The video includes scenes of Kellenberger inside a dog cage, creating a direct visual connection to the song’s title and its broader themes. Dramatic lighting and editing effects were also used to create a darker and grittier atmosphere.
“We’ve always liked the training facility at Dogs 2 Dog Tags as it’s a big room with a giant American flag displayed where they train rescued and donated dogs, giving them to veterans diagnosed with PTSD and anxiety. As most know, we herald our self-defined style as American Heavy Rock so it just felt right to be standing directly in front of a giant American flag. Also, filming myself in a manic state inside a dog cage serves as a visual nod to several themes that have long been part of the band’s identity, while also tying metaphorically to the song itself. At a high level, the lyrics explore the idea of outgrowing the need to be the center of attention and entertainment for others through reckless, self-destructive behavior. To reinforce those themes visually, we used dramatic lighting to create deep shadows throughout many of the shots. Kenny from Studio Meltdown then applied heavy, dirt-style filters during the editing process, giving the video a gritty, raw atmosphere that perfectly complements the song’s message and sound.”
Carbellion Builds on More Than Two Decades of Heavy Rock
Formed in 2004, Carbellion has spent more than two decades developing its presence in the American underground heavy rock scene through recording and touring.
The Wisconsin group previously released Weapons of Choice through Eclipse Records in 2023. Its forthcoming album continues the band’s combination of desert rock, stoner sludge and traditional heavy rock.
This Is Our Style will feature 11 tracks, including 10 original compositions and a cover of “Open Up Your Eyes” by alternative rock band Tonic.
The title track, “This Is Our Style,” is positioned as a statement of the group’s musical identity, reflecting its interest in loud amplification, fast hot rods and high-energy rock music. “Get Down,” meanwhile, serves as a thematic successor to “Barfight” from Weapons of Choice.
This Is Our Style Set for November Release
Carbellion produced the new album alongside Chris Djuricic, whose credits include Nonpoint, Soil and Jungle Rot, at Belle City Sound. Andy VanDette, known for work with Beastie Boys, Porcupine Tree and Rush, mastered the record at Evolve Mastering. Chris Schultz created the album artwork.
The track listing consists of “I Don’t Want To Be Your Dog,” “What You Want,” “This Is Our Style,” “Open Up Your Eyes,” “Get Down,” “Doom Cult,” “Seaworthy,” “Currency In Agony,” “Pound For Pound,” “Westerns” and “Dire Wolf Straights.”
With “I Don’t Want to Be Your Dog” leading the rollout, Carbellion is preparing to introduce its first full-length album since 2023. This Is Our Style is scheduled to arrive on November 13, marking the latest chapter in the Wisconsin band’s more than 20-year career.
