The mayor of Torreblanca and the president of the AECC of Castellón signed the agreement.

The Town Hall of White Tower signed yesterday, Monday, May 14, a collaboration agreement with the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) Castellón to carry out a joint project of smoke-free spaces. The agreement signed by the mayor, María Josefa Tena Martínez, and the president of the provincial headquarters of the entity, Carlos Ulldemolins Salvador, consists of converting the Beach of natural place the Prat in a space where smoking is not allowedr, as in the terrace and gardens of the Natura area, a building dedicated to the park itself and which carries out activities throughout the year.

«We contribute our grain of sand so that the population of Torreblanca, especially the youngest, can raise awareness of the damages tobacco. And we want to shelter the patients of the association, so that they can enjoy the activities in a natural environment without smoke, which is often the most important thing, “said the first mayor.

Value outdoor spaces

For his part, the president of the Castellón AECC thanked the City Council for its willingness to contribute to this measure. “Right now we value this activity much more, because last year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, we learned to enjoy and value outdoor spaces, spaces that we want to raise awareness so that they are smoke-free, “he said.

Torreblanca is thus committed to smoke-free spaces and with the posters and the awareness by the AECC starting this summer in one of his Beaches and in a space as sensitive as the roof terrace and gardens of the Espai Natura, where workshops, concerts and activities will be held throughout the summer.
