Montreal ska-punk group K-Man & The 45s are expanding the sound of their upcoming album Heed The Call with “Demon Days,” a new single combining two-tone ska, punk rock intensity and rock-and-roll swagger.

Released September 23 alongside a new music video, “Demon Days” is the second single from the band’s forthcoming album, scheduled for release October 9 through Stomp Records. The track follows “We Won’t Stop” and offers another indication of the musical range the group is bringing to the new record.

While its predecessor delivered a more direct and forceful approach, “Demon Days” moves into a looser and more unpredictable space. The song draws on ska-punk and alternative rock while incorporating surreal storytelling inspired by ancient mythology.

“Demon Days” Mixes Ska-Punk With Mythological Storytelling

The new track places listeners in an exaggerated world of gods, curses and late-night chaos. Its imagery draws heavily from ancient Egypt, weaving figures including Ra, Anubis and the Sphinx into a story built around the band’s energetic musical style.

“All hell broke loose when the Pharaohs called a truce” serves as one of the song’s central lines, establishing the chaotic atmosphere that continues throughout the track.

Rather than presenting the mythology as a serious historical narrative, K-Man & The 45s use the imagery as the framework for a rowdy ska-punk song. Ra rides the Sphinx, Anubis becomes part of the disorder, and the story grows increasingly unpredictable as the music pushes forward.

That approach reflects the band’s established ability to combine structured musicianship with the less predictable character of a live performance.

Horn arrangements play a prominent role, supported by a fast-moving rhythm section and punk-influenced guitar work. The result is a recording that maintains a sense of controlled disorder while remaining tightly constructed.

The track carries musical influences associated with bands including The Clash, The Slackers, Mad Caddies, Big D and the Kids Table and The Planet Smashers, combining elements of punk rock, two-tone ska and traditional rock and roll.

Montreal Recording Captures Band’s Live Energy

“Demon Days” was recorded and mixed by Ryan Battistuzzi at Le Stuzzio in Montreal. The production emphasizes the group’s energetic performance style rather than smoothing away the rougher characteristics associated with its live shows.

That approach is also reflected in the accompanying music video. The visual treatment builds on the song’s surreal narrative and chaotic atmosphere, translating its unusual imagery into a presentation designed to complement the unpredictable nature of the band’s stage performances.

Montreal also plays an important role in the character of the recording. The song draws from the late-night atmosphere of bars, live music venues and crowded rooms that have helped shape the group’s identity over the years.

K-Man & The 45s have developed their sound through extensive live performance, allowing the musicians to move between tightly arranged sections and moments that feel deliberately spontaneous. “Demon Days” puts that balance at the center of the recording.

“Heed The Call” Expands the Band’s Musical Range

The release provides another preview of what listeners can expect from Heed The Call. By following the direct energy of “We Won’t Stop” with the unconventional storytelling and looser atmosphere of “Demon Days,” the band is positioning the album as a project capable of moving across different moods while retaining a consistent ska-punk foundation.

The contrast between the first two singles suggests K-Man & The 45s are not limiting the record to a single formula. Instead, the group is drawing from punk, ska, two-tone and rock-and-roll influences while using its established live-performance energy as the connecting element.

With Heed The Call scheduled for release October 9, “Demon Days” represents the latest stage of the album rollout and highlights a more playful and chaotic side of the Montreal band.

The new single also demonstrates how the group’s years of performing can translate into a studio recording that remains controlled without sounding overly polished. By combining mythological imagery, energetic horns and a driving rhythm section, “Demon Days” offers another look at the direction K-Man & The 45s are taking on their forthcoming album.
