AUSTIN, Texas — Public Utility Commission of Texas Commissioner Courtney Hjaltman has been appointed to a national advisory council focused on research and emerging issues affecting the U.S. electric power sector, giving Texas additional representation in discussions surrounding energy technology, planning and policy.
The National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners appointed Hjaltman to the Advisory Council to the Board of Directors of the Electric Power Research Institute. The council brings together leaders from government, business, finance, education and other stakeholder groups to provide perspectives on technological, economic and policy matters affecting the electric industry.
The appointment positions Hjaltman to contribute experience from Texas, one of the nation’s largest electricity markets, as regulators and industry leaders address evolving power demand, infrastructure requirements and emerging technologies.

Hjaltman said collaboration will play an important role as the electricity industry continues to change and policymakers work to address the needs of consumers and communities.
