The Oklahoma City Museum of Art (OKCMOA) is preparing to launch a full slate of seasonal programming this weekend, unveiling a line-up of classes, film screenings and creative activities designed to attract visitors throughout December 2025 and into January 2026. The museum, located at 415 Couch Drive, is positioning the programme as both a cultural offering for local families and a strategic driver of winter footfall.
Classes Designed for Young Creatives
Running from early December through late January, the schedule combines hands-on learning with curated cinema and family-friendly events, creating multiple entry points for audiences of different ages. Museum officials have emphasised that the holiday programme is structured to appeal to newcomers and regular visitors alike, aiming to strengthen community engagement during a key period for arts institutions.
At the centre of the educational offering is a series of themed classes aimed at specific age groups. Each session is led by museum professionals and designed to accommodate participants across a broad range of skill levels, from experienced young artists to those exploring a creative activity for the first time. According to the museum, every attendee will finish the class having produced a personal artwork to take home.
The first class on the calendar, “Fused Glass Creations,” is targeted at teenagers aged 13 to 17 and will run on Saturday, 6 December, from 10am to midday.
Technicolor Wonderland Film Series Highlights Mid-Century Cinema
Alongside in-person learning, OKCMOA is launching its Technicolor Wonderland holiday film series, curated as a companion programme to the museum’s exhibition Paul Reed: A Retrospective. Designed to highlight the expressive potential of colour in mid-century cinema, the series presents a blend of Hollywood classics, international films and influential psychological dramas. Screenings will take place every Saturday afternoon from 6 December through 24 January.
The programme opens with Singin’ in the Rain on 6 December at 2pm, followed by Gentlemen Prefer Blondes on 13 December and White Christmas on 20 December. The final screening of the year, Good Morning (Ohayô), will be shown on 27 December.
In January, the museum will screen Written on the Wind on 3 January, Bigger Than Life on 10 January, and Hitchcock’s Marnie—presented in a newly restored 4K edition—on 17 January. Fellini’s Juliet of the Spirits will close the series on 24 January.
Drop-In Art Sessions Offer Weekly Creative Activities
To broaden public participation, the museum is hosting weekly Drop-In Art sessions throughout December. These informal, come-and-go activities will take place every Saturday from 10am to 2pm and are included with museum admission.
The schedule includes:
-
Holiday Card Making – 6 December
-
Holiday Frames and Photos with Santa – 13 December
-
Shrinky Dink Ornaments and Gift Tags – 20 December
-
Snowflake Styrofoam Prints – 27 December
The museum emphasises that the activities are suitable for all ages, with each session designed to foster creativity and encourage deeper engagement with the galleries.
Additional Events in December
OKCMOA has also scheduled two standalone special events for December. The Members’ Holiday Sale will take place on Monday, 8 December, from 4pm to 7pm, offering exclusive seasonal shopping opportunities for members. On Sunday, 14 December, the museum will host December Access for All from noon to 5pm, supporting its commitment to accessibility and widening participation.
