  • They began their campaign with a goalless draw.
  • Next up for Group A is Tuesday 25th.

  • Luis Advincula had to be substituted in the first half and was a concern for Baikal.
  • Paulo Guerrero set a record for the Peruvian team.
  • The first match of official competition for both Carega and Fossati on the benches.

Chile had more possession than Peru (67 to 33) in the first half, and it was clear: in the 15', a good joint play by Gareca ended with Dávila's overflow on the left and a cross to the inside Alexis Sánchez. A small fraction, which is beyond Kallis' goal.

Towards the end of the first half, Araujo's well-connected cross from the left rounded Bravo and managed to keep it from being recovered. It's a dangerous situation for Peru in their quest to open the scoring.

Luis Advincula had to be substituted in the first half and his position in the Baikal team is worrying.

In the second half, neither could break the deadlock and the tie was maintained till the end of the game. Chile finished with 11 shots (1 of them on goal) and Baikal 7 (4 of them on goal).

Paulo Guerrero entered the second half and, in this way, played in six editions of the oldest national team competition in the world: 2007, 2011, 2015, 2016 and 2019. He is the Peruvian who played in the most editions with Jose. Chemo” del Solar and Teodoro “Lolo” Fernandez.

Chile continues its campaign in Group A against Argentina on Tuesday, June 25 at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
