Rookie Jem Pepiot had the hit in the Dodgers’ shutout at Miami

MIAMI — Rookie Ryan Pepiot replaced Julio Urias in the Dodgers rotation over 6 2/3 innings, and Los Angeles beat the Miami Marlins 10-0 on Thursday for its second win in seven starts.

Josh Bell singled up the middle with two outs for Pepiot’s lone hit in the seventh inning. Caleb Ferguson allowed Garrett Hampson’s leadoff single in the eighth and Evan Phillips finished the two-hitter with a perfect ninth.

Pepiot (3-0) was called up from the Oklahoma City minor league team to replace Urias, who was placed on indefinite paid leave after Sunday’s arrest in Los Angeles. Pepiot, a 26-year-old right-hander in his third hit with the Dodgers this season, struck out three and struck out nine.

Sixty of his 84 pitches were strikes.

Chris Taylor hit his 15th home run, had five RBIs, including a double and a single. Venezuela’s Miguel Rojas and Will Smith each had three hits.

For the Dodgers, Dominican Amed Rosario went 5-2 with a run scored and two others made. Puerto Rican Kik Hernandez is 4-2 with RBI. Venezuela Rojas scored a run to make it 5-3.

Marlins, Venezuela Luis Ares 3-0. Dominicans Brian de la Cruz 2-0; Jesus Sanchez 3-0.
