SAN FRANCISCO — Logan Webb overcame a shaky start by pitching a complete game as JD Davis’ solo home run in the fourth inning helped the San Francisco Giants win on Sunday and went 10 for the win. Starter Kyle Freeland left the game with a right shoulder injury.
Webb (8-7) struggled before pulling himself together in a 19-pitch first inning against the Rockies. The 26-year-old right-hander earned his first shutout win by allowing seven hits in strikeouts for the fourth time this season.
Freeland injured his unused shoulder after diving to catch a fly ball by Brett Wisely in the seventh inning.
Davis’ 11th home run sent the Giants into the All-Star break with a 49-41 record, moving them into third place in the NL West behind Arizona and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
For the Giants, Venezuela’s Wilmar Flores went 2-4 and Luis Matos went 1-2.
For the Rockies, Venezuela’s Harold Castro went 3-2 and Elias Diaz went 4-1.
