Janie Arnold

Funeral services for Janie Kay Arnold, 56, of Cleveland, Okla. were held on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at the Westport Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Early officiating.  Burial followed the church services in the Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland, Okla. Chapman-Black Funeral Home handled the arrangements.  Friends and family are encouraged to the visit the online guest book and memorial page for Janie at www.chapman-black.com.

 Janie was born on August 19, 1962, in Muskogee, Okl.  She was the daughter of Richard and Peggy (Catlett) McClure.  As a young girl she began her education in Hugo. Janie moved with her parents to Cleveland, Okla. where father Richard was called to preach at Westport Baptist during her Sophomore of year in high school.  Janie graduated from Cleveland High school with the Class of 1980. Janie furthered her education in Stillwater at Oklahoma State University.  On May 23, 1981, Janie was united in marriage to Richard Vail Arnold in Cleveland, Okla.  The couple initially made their home in Cleveland and Janie worked as a customer service representative for AT&T in Tulsa, Okla. She was later transferred to Kansas City for a short time before moving to Long Beach, Calif. while Rick was in the Navy. When Rick was deployed overseas, Janie and the kids moved to Hugo to be close to her parents, there Janie worked as a veterinarian assistant and eventually at FBC Hugo.  When Rick left the Navy, the family moved to Cleveland in the early 1990s, At that time Janie also accepted the church secretary position at Westport Baptist Church where she has worked for nearly 20 years.

 Janie has numerous hobbies some of them include quilting, sewing, her grandbabies and tending to her cats. She was also an avid shopper which usually consisted of having lunch followed by the remainder of the day shopping on Saturday’s. Traveling was also what Janie enjoyed doing. Taking a cruise, going to Mexico and going to the beaches were what she liked. Janie always enjoyed getting together with family during the holidays and always looked forward to lunch on Sunday’s at Mazzios after church and she liked Mexican food as well.  Janie was also a very genuine and private person. She never said a lot until she was in the privacy of her home. Janie has been a longtime member of the Westport Baptist Church.  She was very adamant that people learn and know about Jesus Christ their Lord and Saviour.  Janie was always very proud of her family and loved them and her church family immensely.    

 Tuesday morning, January 11, 2019, at her home in Cleveland, Janie went to be with her Lord and Saviour at the age of 56 years after 4 years of battling ovarian cancer.  

 Survivors are her husband Rick of the home, three children Rachel McDonald and her husband Chase of Cleveland, Okla., Jeff and his wife Cody Arnold of Benton, Ark., Chloe Arnold of Tulsa, Okla.; father Richard (Dick) McClure of Hugo Okla.; three brothers Doug McClure of Hugo, Okla., Vernon McClure of Quincy, Fla., Robb McClure of Hugo, Okla.; sister Teena McClure of Hugo, Okla.; six grandchildren Ethan, Ella and Benjamin McDonald, Grayson, Amelia and Hazel Arnold as well as numerous other relatives and friends.  Janie was preceded in death by her mother, Peggy McClure.
