Young women are fighting to find work

Tatiana Corias studied accounting, but it was difficult to get a job in this branch; It is now found in cosmetics not only a profession, but the Personal improvement path. Official data indicates that for women, it is very complicated to find work.

Tatiana Corias, 22, resides in the Rio Las Anas community, in the province of Ful Swapango, and ended the baccalaureate in the accounting option four years ago, but she had difficulty finding work. Looking at this, the young woman devoted himself to helping her mother selling clothes from home, while looking for a job opportunity.

Until an initiative from the humanitarian organization in the world's vision reached its community. There is a Christian NGO, in alliance with the IDB (American Development Bank), through the chances of creating the project, which was launched in region A with three main components: technological inclusion, economic opportunities and social cohesion.

In the case of Río Las Cañas, the concentration was the reintegration of employment and entrepreneurship, in response to job loss in this society, after the prohibition of extracting the sands of the river, a historical activity in the region.

Tatiana was one of the young women who participated in the “Tuchaan” program, where he met the option of aesthetics and beauty, with specialization in manicure and Nickcourt.

The condition of Tatiana is similar to the case of thousands of women in El Salvador, who is facing a few job offers and those in low salary conditions or with minimal benefits.

According to the latest survey of multi -purpose living families (EHPM), which was published by the Central Reserve Bank (BCR), women between the ages of 20 and 24 – in which Tatiana – is 11.3 % of the economically active population, compared to 11.8 % of men.

According to that document, in total there is 3,094,079 economists, of whom 1,336,642 (43.2 %) of women and 1757,436 (56.8 %) of men.

The survey also reflected that the unemployment rate until 2023 for women was 5.1 %.

An article published by the World Bank in March of this year, entitled “Women's Manpower: A column for the economic development of the region”, stated that “the rate of employment participation for women in the region is 68 %, compared to 93 % of men.

Another important obstacle that women in the region are the professional separation. “Women are devoted to an average of two to three times more than men for homework and unpaid care activities. In Latin America and the Caribbean region, they have greater potential to perform weak jobs and worse payments, although some Caribbean countries are the exception.”

It also confirms that ensuring that women have equal job opportunities not only the issue of social justice, but it is a major strategy for economic growth and well for the entire region. “Investing in female employment is a commitment to a more fair, prosperous and sustainable future for all,” he says.

The challenge of finding employment

“It was a personal challenge. At first I was afraid to draw nails, but I mentioned that I could do it well,” says Tatiana. Now he is also learning to cut hair in the ladies area in the room where its customers serve with dedication. “This race is very beautiful,” he says enthusiastically.

However, its course has not been exempt from difficulties. Every night he faces a complex trip to his home in Las Kanas. The work is left at 8:00 pm, but the last community transport starts at 7:00 pm, so he must walk for up to 40 minutes on a dark street or is expected to receive it on a motorcycle.

“Transport is the most difficult. Sometimes I walk alone for more than kilometers. Fortunately, some neighbors give me rust when they can,” he says.

Despite these obstacles, Tatiana has support for her family, who is proud of her effort. Since childhood, he has shown interest in cosmetics, cutting, relatives and neighbors, now dreaming of opening his own cosmetic hall and providing a better life for his family.

Other young people who pass through similar situations leave a message: “Do not ignore the opportunities that arrive. There are no stumbling blocks, and the sun always comes out to everyone. Put your hands in God and search for wisdom to find work and overcome them.”
