According to WABetaInfo, this functionality is under development and available to users using the app on iPhone devices.

A new feature in development will allow users to further customize their chats by offering the ability to change the color of chat bubbles. So far, available shades are known to include black, blue and pink.

Currently, users can only change the chat background, but this new option will expand the customization possibilities and improve the user experience.

To change the background of a single WhatsApp chat, the user has to follow the following steps:

Open WhatsApp on your mobile and go to the chat of your choice.
Select the three dots located at the top right.
Go to 'Wallpaper'.
Select 'Change'.
Select the image and adjust its brightness.

Open a chat with a specific person and select their name.
Select 'Notifications'.

In the selected contact's profile, you need to scroll to the end and press 'Add to Favorites'. This feature simplifies the process of making calls or video calls as the selected contacts appear first in the list when you open the 'Calls' tab.
