At the same time, it affects even those who have been vaccinated or who have overcome the disease in the past.

By analyzing wastewater in cities, experts determine virus activity in communities, and recent data suggest that epidemics may be as widespread as last winter. Marisa Donnelly, an epidemiologist at Biobot Analytics, spoke to The Washington Post to warn about the importance of monitoring for signs of infection: “I start to worry about people who are immunocompromised or have risk factors. Severe covid”.

The JN.1 variant has typical symptoms of the disease such as runny nose, cough, headache and, in more severe cases, loss of sense of smell and taste. However, sufferers of the new variant also report two new effects: anxiety and sleep problems.

-About 9% of people had trouble sleeping in November, and this rate increased to nearly 11% in December.

The most common symptoms of the -JN.1 variant are persistent runny nose (31%), cough (23%), and headache (20%).
