Tuxtla Gutierrez, Chiapas. – Committed to gender equality and participating in programs that promote careers and scientific interest, Helmer Veras Coutinho, Director General of the Institute of Science, Technology and Innovation (ICTI), called on the people of Chiapas and the general public to break stereotypes, challenge gender biases, and eliminate discrimination that hinders access for women and girls. In this context, and within the framework of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, ICTI Chiapas extends a cordial invitation to the event that will be held on Friday, February 9 at the facilities of the Tuxtla Planetarium, starting at 11:00 am, in order to commemorate full and equal access and participation. For women and girls in the scientific field.

During this event, the conference “The Importance of Inspiring Scientific Careers” will be presented by Dulce Crystal Becerra Paniagua, a chemical engineer and PhD in energy engineering from UNAM. Her research is related to the development of renewable and environmental energy systems, which has led to her receiving awards on several occasions.

Her hobbies and passion include activities related to publishing and scientific dissemination, and organizing workshops and competitions for girls and women in the field of science.

Later, a workshop “Science, Women and Discoveries” will be planned, which will be taught by Sandra Aurora Gonzalez Sánchez, chemical engineer and PhD in Educational Sciences from Unicach. Responsible for the Mexico South-Eastern Node of the Latin American Network for Research Methodology and member of the Mexican Network for Science, Technology and Gender, where he coordinates the work of the Publishing Group from a Gender Perspective.

Her line of research is related to teaching and learning experimental science from a gender perspective, and feminist research methodology for teaching science in multicultural contexts. He has worked for 15 years coordinating workshops with children and young people in Chiapas, promoting scientific training at an early age.

Scientific publishing is of paramount importance, because it acts as a bridge between the scientific world and access to specialized knowledge without generational bias.

Therefore, it is proposed not to miss the various activities that ICTI Chiapas will carry out during 2024, in order to promote careers in Chiapas and build a proactive knowledge society.
