The VA Office of Tribal Government Relations, in partnership with the Muscogee Nation of Oklahoma, will convene its sixth annual Tribal Women Veterans Summit on 2 April 2026, bringing together women with military service backgrounds for a full-day, in-person event in Tulsa.

Scheduled to take place at the River Spirit Casino Conference Center, the summit is positioned as a key engagement platform aimed at recognising the contributions of women veterans while strengthening access to resources, community networks and institutional support.

The event reflects ongoing collaboration between the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs’ Office of Tribal Government Relations and the Muscogee Nation of Oklahoma, highlighting a shared commitment to improving outreach and services for Native American veterans, particularly women whose needs have historically been underrepresented.

Running from 8:00am to 4:30pm, the summit will be open to all women who have served in the armed forces, including those on active duty as well as members of the National Guard and Reserve. Organisers say the inclusive approach is intended to ensure broad participation across different stages of military and post-service life.

The choice of Tulsa as the host city underscores the importance of regional engagement with tribal communities in Oklahoma, home to a significant population of Native American veterans. By staging the event in a central and accessible venue, organisers aim to maximise attendance and foster meaningful dialogue between participants and service providers.

While the agenda details have not been formally outlined in the announcement, similar summits in previous years have typically included panel discussions, resource briefings, health and wellbeing sessions, and networking opportunities designed to connect veterans with federal, tribal and community-based support systems.

From a policy and institutional perspective, the summit also serves as a touchpoint for the VA to strengthen relationships with tribal governments. The Office of Tribal Government Relations plays a critical role in ensuring that veterans in tribal communities receive equitable access to benefits and services, while also respecting cultural and governance frameworks unique to each nation.

For the Muscogee Nation, co-hosting the summit reinforces its ongoing efforts to advocate for its citizens who have served in the military. Tribal leadership has consistently emphasised the importance of culturally informed care and community-driven support structures, particularly for women veterans who may face distinct challenges during and after service.

The event also carries broader economic and social implications for the region. Hosting a full-day summit of this nature is expected to generate local activity, particularly within Tulsa’s hospitality sector. Attendees travelling from outside the city have been provided with a dedicated hotel reservation link, signalling an expectation of strong turnout.

Beyond its immediate logistical and economic impact, the summit reflects a growing recognition across government and tribal institutions of the need to tailor veteran services more effectively. Women now represent one of the fastest-growing segments of the veteran population, and initiatives such as this are increasingly seen as essential to addressing gaps in care, employment support and community integration.

Importantly, the summit is not limited to policy discussions; it is also designed as a space for shared experience. By bringing together women from diverse military backgrounds, the event offers an opportunity to build peer networks that can extend beyond the day itself.

As the sixth iteration of the Tribal Women Veterans Summit, the 2026 event demonstrates continuity in engagement while signalling an ongoing commitment to evolve support frameworks in line with the needs of women veterans.

With participation open to a wide cross-section of service members and veterans, organisers are positioning the summit as both a practical resource hub and a symbolic acknowledgement of service—one that aims to strengthen connections between federal agencies, tribal governments and the individuals they serve.
