If you have an iPhone or iPad, update them now. That’s Apple To announce The newly discovered zero-day vulnerability affects a large number of corporate phones and tablets, which may be “seriously exploited” by cybercriminals.

The IOMobileFrameBuffer device has a bug and if used correctly, attackers can use it to run arbitrary code with kernel privileges on target devices, meaning they can hijack your phone or tablet and do whatever they want with them. This includes injecting malware or stealing your data, things that no one wants to happen to them.

Apple claims that the zero-day vulnerability was discovered by an “anonymous researcher”, but did not provide details about who they were targeting by this security flaw or how it was discovered. They named it CVE-2021-30883.

While it is not entirely clear that this security flaw is being seriously exploited, it is also not clear that it does not, and we should not wait to find out.
