The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) through a message assured that it is willing to support the Islamic Republic of Iran in the areas of science and technology.

According to the IRNA web portal, Unesco’s deputy director general of Natural Sciences, Shamila Nair-Bedouelle, delivered the message to the Iranian Minister of Science, Research and Technology, Mohamad Ali Zolfi Goal, and the Secretary General of the National Commission for Unesco-Iran, Hoyatolá Ayubi, on the occasion of World Science Day for Peace and Development.

In this sense, Nair-Bedouelle explained that the organization began to develop a new initiative called “Unesco Recommendation on Open Science”.

Unesco has had the support of Iran in launching this initiative to advance in line with sustainable development and ensure that everyone can access scientific, technological and innovative advances, he added.

He also praised the program known as “In the shadow of the sun”, organized by the Iranian National Commission for UNESCO, which each year awards a scientific, cultural and research personality from our country.

This year, in its fourth edition, the award is dedicated to Professor Yusef Sobuti, the famous Iranian astrophysicist. / WIL / JML
