2 officers shot dead in Delafield, still on large scale suspicion

Two officers were shot dead in Delafield on Friday morning, November 6 & both officers were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Waghesha County, Wis. – On Friday morning, November 6, two officers were shot dead in Delafield, one in Delafield and one in Hartland. Both officers were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The suspect has been identified as Nathanel Benton. Benton Fargo, N.D., in connection with a shooting.

Authorities initially responded to a call for an accident. Upon arrival, officers confronted the suspect outside a holiday resort near I-94 and Highway 83. Guns were exchanged and two officers were assaulted.

All lanes on I-94 near WIS 83 in Delafield are currently closed as the investigation continues.

The suspect is described as a white male, about 6’0 ” tall, 215 pounds, with blue eyes and brown hair. The suspect was wearing a flat-brimmed hat, sweatshirt and khakis. The suspect was last seen driving south from I-94 and Hwy 83 in Delafield.

The suspect is considered armed and dangerous. If you find anyone who fits this description, please call 911.

Residents of the Delafield area were issued an emergency warning asking people to avoid Highway 83 and part of Golf Road due to a “law enforcement incident.” Residents of the immediate area were warned to “take refuge in the lowest level of your home / business”.
