Two Cubans from Miami Arrested for Wave of Retail Store Robberies in Florida

Collier County Sheriff's Office (CCSO), in Southwest Florida, has arrested Two Cubans in Miami are allegedly linked to an organized gang responsible for a wave of robberies. Widely available in retail stores across the state.

At approximately 2 p.m. last Wednesday, agents located a vehicle leaving Walmart at 6650 Collier Blvd. that matched the description of the brown GMC SUV believed to be the couple.

According to the statement, the driver, later identified as Garcia Vento, ran a red light and officers conducted a traffic stop. When the SUV came to a stop, Garcia Agite fled, but was arrested after a short foot chase.

The report states that the couple told police they were coming from Fort Myers. However, suspecting that this was not true and that the two had just robbed a Walmart, agents reviewed the store's security recordings.

In the video, Garcia Vento is seen in the personal care section of the store when he takes a package of Gillette razors, hides them in his clothes, and leaves the business without paying.

The Cubans told authorities they did not have purchase receipts for any of the products.

Both are charged with multiple felonies, including grand larceny. Garcia Vento already had a criminal record, having been out on bail on retail theft charges in Palm Beach County..
