This is how deleted files are recovered on Android, iOS, Windows and Mac

Usually every computer or mobile phone user is always faced with the problem of recovering accidentally deleted files. From Android to iOS, with Windows and Mac, this is the process of doing this.

If you want to recover a deleted file on Windows 10, the operating system currently most widely used by Microsoft users, you have the opportunity to use a recovery tool introduced by the company called Windows File Recovery.

It is free and once launched (or previously downloaded and installed, if not installed as a platform on the system), the user must follow the following procedure when issuing commands to the tool: Winfr Source Driver Target / Mode / Filters.

That is, you must first specify the drive on which the file or folder was deleted, followed by the target drive you want to restore, the way to do it, and additional filters.

Windows File Recovery has two modes: Normal and Comprehensive. The first is for recovering files that were deleted a few days ago and the second is for everything. To use one or the other, type / regular or / detailed respectively.

For filters, they are used to specify a search by entering a search, for example, a specific name or format, such as JPEG, before the command / n and the file name (or format) and \ if it is included in a folder.

For example, if you want to recover a deleted dog photo on Drive C: and want to put it back on D:, you must enter: Winfr C: D: / regular / n dog \ jpeg.

On the MAC

For Mac, there are two methods: one is to go to the trash and the other is to use the time machine program. First, locate the file you want to recover by right-clicking on the icon in the application bar or dragging it to its new target folder.

If the file in question is not already in the trash, another option is to use a time machine, which is a Mac program for creating backup copies.

First, click on Select Backup Disk and choose where you want to save these copies from now on. To do this, you need to leave the built-in function and click on Backup automatically.

The next time you want to recover a deleted file on a Mac, you need to access the Time Machine and when you get there, finally search for the file or folder to click on Restore.

On Android

For Android users, there are two best ways to recover a deleted file: with or without root. Routing is the process of allowing a device to gain control and certain privileges in order to modify certain built-in features.

If you have root privileges, the easiest way is through the DiskDigger utility. Once downloaded and installed, these permissions will be granted and the directory / data command to be searched will be selected.

Next, it’s time to select the type of files you want to find and wait for it to complete its process. When done, the program allows you to save it to your device.

There is also a possibility that the user does not have root privileges or permissions on the Android phone. If so, the use of third-party software such as Recuva is highly recommended, as its use requires a computer.

Once the program is installed, the mobile is connected to the computer via USB. Now, open Recuva and select the file type you want to find. Then, click on ‘Specific’ and the Android device will be selected at that time.

Recuva offers the option to enable (or not) its deep scan mode. Next, wait for the search to finish, select the file to recover and save it to your computer.

On iOS

Finally, users of the iOS operating system on the iPhone and iPad have the option of wanting to recover an accidentally deleted file. If it is a photo, the quickest option is to access the Deleted tab in the Photos app.

Deleted images from the last 30 days will be stored there before being completely deleted. In this tab, they will only return to their original folder if you search for the photo in question and click on Recover.

The second best alternative to recovering an accidentally deleted file on iOS is to create a backup on the device thanks to iCloud which is valid for all types of files (not just images).

To verify that the option is enabled, you need to go to Settings, click on the username, click on iCloud and finally, make a backup in iCloud.
