Scientists began their research in 2022, at a time when the tide was out and they could walk much northerly than they already had.

After finding the first footprint, the team found the rest on two branching paths along the beach. They were also able to confirm its age using a scintillation system.

Scientists stated that the composition of the beach itself was essential for preserving the footprints, because it consists of a rocky platform with clay deposits.

The importance of footprints lies in the biological information β€œthey can provide about the movement and behavior of the individuals who left them,” the research article said.

The researchers also claim that the different sizes of the footprints may indicate that they were individuals of different ages, leaving tracks heading towards land and sea.
