They found more than 350 immigrants trapped in a truck in Mexico

(CNN Español) –– Mexico’s Federal Migration Agents (AFM) on Sunday found 359 migrants in a truck’s semi-trailer van on the Cotsagolcos Highway in the state of Veracruz, the National Migration Agency said in a statement.

According to officials, federal agents stopped the truck for routine testing. Then “voices were heard from the back of the vehicle.” When the immigrants were identified, they were 294 Guatemalans, 38 Nicaraguans, 15 Salvadorans, 8 Hondurans and 4 Ecuadorians.

The driver and truck were made available to the Mexican attorney’s office, the evacuee said.

For its part, the Guatemalan Consulate General in Guayaquil, Veracruz, provides assistance to national immigrants, including 55 unaccompanied minors.

“The consular mission is pursuing the case and conducting interviews with them to find out if the rights of the countrymen have been violated, as well as making sure they are documented as soon as possible so that they can return to Guatemala soon,” they said. As described in the report.
