The “world’s longest bus journey” takes 56 days to cross Europe

(CNN) — How would you like to spend two months without traveling by land from Istanbul to London? Adventures Overland, an Indian travel company, is touted as the “World’s Longest Bus Tour”.

Departing in August, the 56-day voyage, carrying up to 30 passengers, will span 22 countries and take passengers from Turkey’s largest city through the Balkans, Eastern Europe, Scandinavia and Western Europe to the United Kingdom’s capital.

One of the highlights of the 12,000 kilometer journey is the ferry crossing of the Gulf of Finland, the North Cape (or Nordkapp), the northern tip of continental Europe, and the Norwegian fjords.

The complete package costs travelers US$24,300 and includes daily breakfast, 30 lunches and dinners and all hotel accommodations (room sharing).

While traveling by bus for two months may not appeal to some, the vehicle is described as “a special luxury bus designed for comfortable long-distance travel”.

Passengers on board will be able to relax in adjustable reclining seats with “ample leg room” and will feature AUX and USB ports, a folding tray and bottle and cup holders. Each passenger can carry two “regular sized suitcases”.

‘Bus to London’ was created as an alternative to Adventures Overland’s annual ‘Road to London’ route, partly inspired by the hippie trail buses that traveled the world in the 1950s and 1960s, due to start in 2021.

However, the route, which includes places such as Myanmar, China and Russia, which are currently closed to international visitors, could not take off as expected.

Adventures Overland was founded in 2012 by entrepreneurs Tushar Aggarwal and Sanjay Madan, who organized several self-drive, convoy trips from India to London, as well as trips through Iceland and Russia, before launching their first continental bus tour.

“Each route in each country has been checked to ensure the journey runs smoothly, so passengers traveling to London can board the bus knowing they are in good hands,” Agarwal said in a statement.

“Our priority is to provide a unique and majestic experience in a safe environment. We take care of documents, paperwork, visas and permits to ensure that all the attention of the participants is focused on living the journey.”

According to him Guinness World RecordThe current longest bus route in the world covers 6,200 kilometers, connecting Lima (Peru) with Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).

Last year, Swiss railway company Rhaetian Railway broke the record for the world’s longest train by running a 1.9 kilometer long 100-car train.

It is planned that Bus to London Departs Istanbul on 7th August and arrives in London on 1st October.
