The sixth successful meeting of Karim students and researchers promoting science and creating interdisciplinary links

he Center for Water Resources for Agriculture and Mining at the University of Concepcion, It successfully held its sixth meeting of Criam students and postdoctoral researchers on May 7-8. The ceremony witnessed a remarkable attendance Dr. Benjamin Peña, researcher at the Institute of Environmental Diagnostics and Water Studies (Ideae) in SpainIt focused on publishing research and creating networks in the scientific field.

The meeting began with welcoming words from the Centre's Deputy Director, Dr. Leopoldo Gutierrez, who highlighted the opportunity that this type of meeting provides for professionals and researchers.

Then, the opening remarks were given by Dr. Peña, who addressed topics related to integrated water resources management. His presentation provided an inspiring and enriching perspective for attendees, highlighting the importance of scientific research in the field of water and environment at the international level and in an interdisciplinary manner.

Likewise, the Spanish academic highlighted the collaborative work carried out by Csic with Criam, a link that has been strengthened during the ten years of the centre's implementation. “We have had student exchanges, written articles, and significant scientific cooperation, and we are very satisfied with the work done over these years,” he said.

During the event, students and researchers were able to present their studies and results in areas related to water resources. These presentations not only allowed for the exchange of knowledge and experiences, but also promoted the creation of new connections between participants.

After two days of presentations covering many topics and approaches in the field of water resources, an awards ceremony was held. In this final moment of the meeting, the best exhibitions in the undergraduate, graduate and postdoctoral categories were honored. The awards not only represented recognition of the participants’ efforts and academic excellence, but also served as an incentive to continue researching and contributing to the field of integrated water resources management.

The winners in the various categories are:

Bachelor Class: Andrea Puga, Hanna Gregorina, and Daniela Navarrete

Graduate class: Camila Banales

Postdoctoral class: Valentina Carrillo

The sixth CRIAM Student and Researcher Meeting was a resounding success, highlighting the scientific community's commitment to research and dissemination of knowledge in the field of water resources. The presence of Dr. Benjamin Peña and the participation of students and researchers from different places (University, Concepcion Campus and Chillán Campus; Universidad del Biobio, Concepción Campus and Chillán Campus; University of Talca, Curicó Campus and Universidad del Desarrollo, Santiago Campus) enriched the event and reaffirmed Karim’s commitment to generating Specialized human capital, promoting science and creating links in the field of integrated water resources management.
