The Dwights Glacier, one of the largest glaciers in Antarctica, is linked to the Apocalypse because scientists predict that melting will indicate a global climate decline.

The Dwights Glacier, located in western Antarctica, is the widest on Earth, extending about 120 km and having a depth of 800 to 1,200 m in its contact range, where the glacier becomes an iceberg connected to land. Amundsen is a layer of ice floating in the ocean.

Dwights is sometimes referred to as the “Doomsday Glacier” because its eruption could trigger a layer of glacial slopes in Antarctica, and recent research on the frozen continent suggests more destruction.

Rapid degradation will end the complete collapse of the ice shelf in a few years, researchers warned at a virtual press conference on Monday, December 13 at the annual meeting of the American Geophysical Union (AGU).
