A forensic expert and an anthropologist assist in identifying the bodies of inmates who died in incidents recorded at Latasunga Prison on Monday afternoon, October 3.

According to SNAI, 15 prisoners died and 21 were injured in this new massacreThis is the fourth record so far this year.

The bodies have been transported to the Ambato Forensic Center for identification as the equipment necessary for this process is available.

Another explosion was heard in Ladasunga prison

Franklin Poveda, director of the Cotopaxi Public Safety Office, who was at the scene this morning, said most of the bodies were in pieces.

Twelve bodies have already been identified and three more are yet to be confirmed.

The conservationist called on family members to come forward to provide some clues, such as characteristics or tattoos, that would allow them to identify the bodies.

Leandro Norero, alias boss, would be one of the dead in this carnage. He was arrested for money laundering.

The Minister of the Interior, Juan Zapata, indicated this Tuesday that it is believed to be because of the tattoos. Leandro Norero He was one of fifteen people who died in Latasunga prison.

Most of the prisoners in Latasunga prison are funded by the Public Protection Office.

Outside the Latasunga prison and the Ambado Forensic Centre, families waited for information on the status of their incarcerated relatives.
