(CNN) – The Mexican government has released a report saying the death toll from Covit-19 has surpassed 321,000, 60% higher than the official death toll of 201,429 reported on Saturday.

From the onset of the epidemic to February 14, 2021, 294,287 people have died from Govt-19, according to a new report.

Since then, between February 15 and Saturday, there have been 27,223 additional deaths from Govt-19, according to a CNN analysis of data from the Ministry of Health.

For a total of more than 321,000 deaths from Govt-19, these figures represent that the number of deaths from the disease in the country is almost 60% higher than the official figure.

According to the report, the increase in deaths from the onset of the disease was 417,002 and 70.6% of them were associated with Govit-19. Excessive deaths are determined by the number of deaths observed compared to the number of deaths expected based on previous data.

According to the data in the report, the death toll in Mexico will be higher than in Brazil, ranking the country second only to the United States.
