President Nayib Bukele will address Salvadorans tonight on national radio and television. The President will be accompanied by the government's Council of Ministers to address three major issues of concern to citizens.

  1. The first warning concerns the arrival of a rainstorm in El Salvador starting on Saturday and Sunday.
  2. The second is due to the red alert due to dengue fever that is hitting the entire continent with more than 4,000 deaths due to this disease in the Americas.
  3. The third message is about the prices of products in the basic basket.

On the last issue – food prices – the President made a strong appeal to producers, traders, retailers and all those involved in the distribution of the basic basket: “Stop exploiting them,” he said, expressing hope that prices would return to normal starting tomorrow, Saturday, July 6. “I expect prices to go down tomorrow,” he said..

“Stop mistreating the Salvadoran people or you will face the consequences,” he warned.

The president comments, “I tell these people to lower the prices of food starting tomorrow or they will have problems, as you know, they have already signed these agreements.” @nayibbukeleRegarding food importers who have raised their prices without justification. pic.twitter.com/sqoMlGIVEV

Budget of the Legislative Council Members

On another topic, Bukele referred to a news story on Friday that said each deputy would receive $14,000 a month for his or her work, saying the report, published by La Prensa Gráfica, was “biased” because the legislature cut $12.5 million from its budget for the period, in addition to cutting another $8.5 million, in savings from moving from 84 to 60 deputies.

The president also said he had spoken with Assembly Speaker Ernesto Castro to make a third budget cut, which would keep it at $11,000 per month per legislator, which It would mean another $4.5 million in savings by reducing the amount each deputy has to hire staff and that money would be used for scholarships..

The case of the only Vamos deputy who will get $20,000

On the same subject, the president pointed out that the only representative of Vamos, Claudia Ortiz, will receive $20,000 a month, because she requested more employees to cover her obligations. He explained that Ortiz will receive $11,000 like the rest of the parliamentarians.
