Russia says it has defended its attack on Ukraine at the UN and is not seeking aggression

The UN has decided to intervene in Ukraine because of Kiev’s “provocations” and the situation of the Donbass people. Russia justified itself in the Security Council and insisted that it did not seek “aggression” from the neighboring country.

Russia’s ambassador to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, stressed that the purpose of the “special operation” was to “protect the people affected by the Kiev regime’s genocide for eight years” and to “militarize” Ukraine.

Neptune spoke during an emergency meeting of the Security Council in Moscow, where Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of military intervention.

Transferring part of Putin’s speech to other countries, the diplomat stressed that “the occupation of Ukraine is not in Russia’s plans” and assured that the intervention in the UN Charter was justified. The organization’s general Antonio Guterres said the opposite today.

In his speech, Nefenzia repeatedly blamed the situation on the Ukrainian government, accusing it of increasing its “provocations” in the east of the country, where Moscow recognized the self-proclaimed independence of the two republics.

According to him, as far as Russia is concerned, the basic thing is to protect the people of those areas, while at the same time accusing the US and European countries of ignoring their position and being guided only by geo-strategic interests.
