The Republican Liberty Caucus of Texas is preparing to host a free breakfast and meet-and-greet in Dallas for delegates attending the 2026 Republican Ceremonial National Convention, with the gathering set to focus on the role of delegates in the Republican Party’s 2028 vice-presidential selection process.

The event is scheduled for Thursday, September 10, from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Mesero Mexican Restaurant, 2375 Victory Park Lane in Dallas. The venue is located less than 1,000 feet from the American Airlines Center, where the convention is being held.

Organizers said the gathering is designed to bring convention delegates together with representatives of the Republican Liberty Caucus of Texas while providing a forum for discussion about the party’s future nomination process.

Mike ter Maat to Discuss 2028 Vice-Presidential Selection

The featured guest will be Mike ter Maat, who is campaigning for the Republican Party’s 2028 vice-presidential nomination.

Ter Maat’s campaign is advocating for Republican convention delegates to have a more direct role in selecting the party’s vice-presidential nominee. Under the approach promoted by the campaign, delegates would have greater authority over the selection rather than leaving the decision solely to the winner of the presidential primaries.

The Dallas breakfast will give ter Maat an opportunity to present that proposal directly to delegates and discuss the potential role convention participants could play in determining the composition of the Republican national ticket.

The effort comes well ahead of the 2028 presidential election cycle and places an early focus on internal party procedures surrounding the selection of a vice-presidential candidate.

Campaign Promotes Liberty Movement Representation

Alongside its proposal for greater delegate involvement, ter Maat’s campaign is advocating for representation of the liberty movement on the Republican national ticket.

According to the campaign, including the liberty movement in the ticket could help unify the GOP around a shared collection of political and economic principles.

Those priorities include free markets, constitutionality, medical freedom, fiscal conservatism and fewer foreign entanglements.

The platform places particular emphasis on limited government, economic freedom and restrained federal spending, while also promoting a foreign policy approach that calls for reducing U.S. involvement in overseas conflicts.

The Republican Liberty Caucus has long been associated with efforts to advance limited-government and individual-liberty principles within Republican politics. The Texas chapter’s Dallas gathering provides an opportunity to present those priorities to convention delegates.

Dallas Gathering Targets Delegates and Media

The event is being organized as an informal breakfast and meet-and-greet rather than a traditional political rally. Delegates and members of the media are being invited to attend free of charge.

Its location near the American Airlines Center is intended to make the event easily accessible to people participating in convention activities.

Beyond introducing delegates to ter Maat’s campaign, the gathering is expected to focus attention on the broader question of how much influence convention delegates should have over the Republican Party’s national ticket.

The event also illustrates how prospective candidates and political organizations can begin laying groundwork well before a presidential election, particularly when seeking changes to party procedures or greater representation for particular ideological constituencies.

For ter Maat’s campaign, the Dallas appearance provides an early opportunity to present its case for a delegate-centered vice-presidential selection process. For the Republican Liberty Caucus of Texas, the breakfast offers a platform to promote liberty-oriented priorities and encourage discussion about the direction of the Republican Party heading toward the 2028 election cycle.
