President Xiomara Castro visits China

Tegucigalpa, Honduras.President of Honduras Xiomara Castro Left Honduras People’s Republic of China Wednesday night (June 7) and the Asian giant will reach the soil on Friday noon as scheduled.

Although no pictures of his trip have been shared yet, as they usually do through their official social networks, the presidential palace explained that the president will be visiting China to hold various meetings, including with his counterpart Xi Jinping.

Castro was accompanied by at least five officials from his government cabinet, the presidential palace staff and the national press invited by the Chinese government.

Officials traveling with President Castro include his son and personal secretary, Hector Zelaya, and Foreign Minister Eduardo Enrique Reyna.

In addition, they are part of the delegation consisting of Laura Suazo, Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (SAG); Lucky Medina, owner of MiAmbiente; and Economic Development Secretariat Officer.

President Castro’s daughter and Libre Vice President Hortensia Zelaya also traveled to China.

A Chinese embassy is already operating in Honduras

China officially opened its embassy in Tegucigalpa on Monday and, for now, will operate out of the capital’s Hyatt Hotel, handling most matters arising from the diplomatic office.

The opening of the physical establishment formalizing diplomatic and commercial relations between the two countries was led by China’s Trade Manager in Honduras Yu Bo and Foreign Minister Eduardo Enrique Reyna.
