Paunovic confirms that Chivas had a lesson in humility from America

“That lesson of humility that America gave us was very useful for us and I think we used those lessons from that moment and made huge progress because we knew we couldn’t compete with them in the Liguilla.

“The fact that we scored the same number of points in the regular season, that’s accurate and completely based on Akron’s learning. We want to use that in the next two games, in the playoffs, to make sure we’re moving forward.”

In exclusive words TUDN with Eric LopezThe Serbian coach doesn’t discount the qualities the U.S. has, a dangerous offense and Henry Martin as a goal-scoring leader.

“The most dangerous team is underestimating itself, we’re not underestimating America, we’re going to focus on doing what we do well, we’re not going to get into speculation, that’s not going to work anymore.

“In the Liguilla, you have to prove, to assert yourself, to show that you can handle yourself, the important thing is to win, to overcome the fatigue, this championship and this Liguilla, the emotional intensity that you live by overcoming a great rival.”

Paunovic ensures that Sivas will maintain its philosophy

Coach Veljko Paunovic commented that, beyond speculation, Chivas will not change anything by facing the USA at work and the goal is to qualify for the finals against the USA.

“We are not going to change our approach, the philosophy of the work, another Clasico ahead is extra motivation and we know the most important thing is to get into the final, and for that we need to win one of the two games we have against the USA. It will not be easy. We will be very focused on what we do and our Let’s prepare the players to be at their best.”
