OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) has updated its cyclosporiasis dashboard after a technical issue caused some case information to be omitted from an earlier public data release. Health officials issued a second update to the dashboard the same day to ensure the information available to the public accurately reflects the latest reported cases.
According to OSDH, the technical issue affected the initial update of the cyclosporiasis dashboard on the agency’s Viral View page. After identifying the problem, officials corrected the dashboard and republished the data to provide a complete and accurate overview of reported infections.
The updated dashboard now lists 172 confirmed and probable cases of cyclosporiasis in Oklahoma, reflecting the corrected statewide total.
The department said the revised dashboard is intended to provide the most reliable information available for healthcare providers, public health partners, policymakers, businesses, researchers and residents monitoring disease activity across the state.
Routine Dashboard Updates Continue
The cyclosporiasis dashboard is part of the Oklahoma State Department of Health’s broader disease surveillance efforts, providing regularly updated information on reported cases to support public health awareness and response activities.
Health officials noted that the dashboard follows a consistent update schedule, with new information published every Tuesday at 10 a.m. The prompt correction following the technical issue demonstrates the agency’s commitment to maintaining accurate public health reporting and ensuring that stakeholders have access to dependable data.
Reliable disease surveillance plays an important role in identifying trends, guiding public health decisions and supporting healthcare systems as they respond to infectious diseases. Public dashboards also help improve transparency by making current case information readily available to communities and organizations across the state.
Cyclosporiasis is a foodborne illness caused by the parasite Cyclospora cayetanensis. Public health agencies routinely monitor reported cases to identify potential outbreaks, track disease activity and support investigations when necessary.
The Oklahoma State Department of Health continues to oversee statewide public health initiatives through a network of local health services and disease prevention programs. In addition to monitoring communicable diseases, the agency provides technical support and guidance to 68 county health departments throughout Oklahoma, as well as consultation to the two independent city-county health departments serving Oklahoma City and Tulsa.
Officials said the updated dashboard reflects the agency’s continued focus on data accuracy and transparency.
