One thousand remains to be exhumed for space in the SP cemetery

1,056 mortal remains will be exhumed and buried in the Vila Nova Cachoeirinha cemetery, in the north of the city, to free up space, the city of São Paulo reported on Wednesday (17). The material will go through an identification process and will be sent to the ossuary sector.

In a statement, the city says that the exhumations of remains and the transfer to the ossuary are part of a routine process, which occurs every three years for adults, and every two years for children up to 6 years of age. The block of the cemetery that will be exhumed has already passed the period of 4 years.

The Municipality of São Paulo, through the Funeral Service of the Municipality of São Paulo, clarifies that the publication in the Official Gazette as a summons for the exhumation of the bodies present in block 8 of the Vila Nova Cachoeirinha Cemetery is a standard procedure and follows the guidelines of State Decree No. 16.017 / 80.

Exhumations in municipal cemeteries are carried out three years (for adults) and two years (for children up to 06 years) after the date of burial, in accordance with article 551 of State Decree No. 16.017 / 80. The court mentioned, which will be used, has already exceeded the 4 years stipulated for exhumation.
