OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma Attorney General candidate Jon Echols has received the endorsement of Paul Abner, president of Oklahoma Faith Leaders, as conservative groups across the state continue to rally behind his campaign.
The endorsement adds support from a prominent faith-based organisation that represents nine faith groups and more than one million Oklahomans. Oklahoma Faith Leaders focuses on public policy engagement and works to equip faith communities with resources to influence political and legislative matters within the state.
In a statement announcing the endorsement, Paul Abner highlighted Echols’ involvement in conservative policy initiatives and his long-standing relationship with faith-based advocates in Oklahoma.
“Politicians consistently talk about standing up for our Christian values. Jon Echols is someone I’ve seen firsthand actually stand alongside me in the trenches to fight and win,” Paul Abner said in a statement. “Jon has fought for key values and issues that matter to people of Faith in Oklahoma. He fought with us as we ended surgical abortions in Oklahoma, protected children and girls from the radical transgender agenda, and put a stop to any future attempts at shutting down Houses of Worship during ‘emergencies.’ Jon is a man of Faith who has been tested and proven in battle, and he will continue to fight for us as Attorney General. It is my honor to endorse him.”
The endorsement is expected to strengthen Echols’ support among conservative and religious voters as the Attorney General race gains momentum. Faith-based advocacy groups continue to play an influential role in Oklahoma politics, particularly on issues connected to religious liberty, education, and social policy.
Political observers note that endorsements from established community and advocacy organisations can help candidates expand grassroots outreach efforts and reinforce support among core voter groups ahead of election campaigns.
Echols welcomed the endorsement and described faith as a central part of his approach to public service and policymaking.
“I am deeply humbled to have the support of my good friend Paul Abner of the Oklahoma Faith Leaders in this campaign,” Jon Echols said. “My faith has been central to my time in public service, both in the legislation I have pushed and in the way I have treated people. It is my belief that we need an Attorney General who will stand for what is right and isn’t afraid of the blowback that comes with that. My record shows I am the proven conservative in the race for AG who will successfully do that.”
The Oklahoma Attorney General’s office holds broad legal authority within the state, including overseeing litigation involving state agencies, consumer protection matters, and legal representation in constitutional disputes. The role has increasingly become a focal point for debates surrounding state-level policy and legal challenges across the United States.
The endorsement from Oklahoma Faith Leaders reflects the continuing alignment between conservative political campaigns and religious advocacy groups in several Republican-led states. Analysts say such endorsements often help candidates mobilise local community networks and strengthen visibility among voters focused on faith and public policy issues.
Neither Echols nor Oklahoma Faith Leaders provided additional details regarding campaign events or future policy initiatives tied to the endorsement announcement. However, the public backing signals growing support for Echols within Oklahoma’s conservative political landscape as the Attorney General campaign continues.
