NASA responds: What is it like to do science in space? | VIDEO

During the month of March, POT paid tribute to women They have played a pivotal role in shaping the history of the agency. One of the last activities, carried out this week, has been a special call to meet two astronauts who play a fundamental role in the POT.

This participation has been guided, nothing more and nothing less, than by the Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, who has been responsible for interviewing the NASA astronauts, Shannon Walker and Kate Rubins, aboard the International Space Station to find out what it’s like to do science in space.

During the Interview Kamala harris was responsible for guiding the interview with NASA specialists, to learn more about the work they are currently performing in space aboard the Station to discover, among other things, what kind of “experiments” they are carrying out and what it is like to do science in space.

Who is Shannon Walker?

Dr. Shannon Walker is currently serving as a mission specialist on the Crew-1 SpaceX Crew Dragon, called Resilience, which was launched on November 15, 2020. Walker is also the Flight Engineer for Expedition 64. In 2021, she will She served as a flight engineer for Expedition 24/25, a long-duration mission aboard the International Space Station that lasted 163 days.

Who is Kate Rubins?

Dr. Kate Rubins is currently aboard the space station for a six-month mission as a flight engineer for the Expedition 63/64 crew. Rubins completed his first space flight on Expedition 48/49 in 2016, when he became the first person to sequence DNA in space. He spent 115 days in space and did two spacewalks.
