Napoli’s celebrations were put on hold as Salernitana drew 1-1 on matchday 32 of Serie A action.

ITALY — Guillermo Ochoa and Salernitana stopped Hirving Lozano and Napoli’s bid to celebrate the Italian Serie A title. With a 1-1 draw at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, the Neapolitan side will have to wait at least one more date to lift the long-awaited Scudetto this season.

Although Napoli were already celebrating after Matias Oliveira’s goal, Boulaye Dia and Guillermo Ochoa spoiled the party for the locals. Not even Maradona’s spirit could prevent Salernitana from reclaiming and quieting the place screaming for the title after 33 years and one day.

Hirving Lozano started and played 60 minutes, but ‘Chucky’, despite his desire, could not affect the score despite his overflows and bravery on the right wing. The Mexican put in a couple of dangerous crosses, but Ochoa was not troubled by his teammates.

The tricolor goalkeeper was a wall, especially in the second half, when a single Olivera header that couldn’t be covered put Napoli ahead and the Italian city was all set to explode with joy.

Elmas and Kvartskelia had chances against Ochoa, but their shots missed by centimeters and ‘Paco Memo’ in his area. Diego Armando Maradona loomed large at the Mexico goalkeeper’s stadium.

Luciano Spalletti’s painting will have to wait for the festivities. They will know whether they are champions or not on Wednesday. Everything depends on Lazio’s result against Sassuolo; Meanwhile, they travel to Udinese on Thursday and save the celebrations until then.
