In turn, all parties agreed on the need to move forward with the creation of a common work space to define the various actions and initiatives in favor of developing the sector, the same thing that is happening in other areas of the local productive framework.

In this regard, they agreed to meet again next week and some producers raised the first lines that could be worked on as follows: standards of guarantee and quality and opening new internal and external markets.

During the meeting, Juana Echizarita, President of the Salami Council, gave Tandil some details of the experience in her sector and the appellation of origin.

Petrantonio described the meeting as “very good” and highlighted the willingness shown by some of the producers. “From the municipality, we understand the associated management as a city development scheme, we have a large number of examples and we want to try to move forward with the producers of knives, a product with a distinct and widely recognized tandel tradition.”

Tandil is the only city in our country and one of the few cities in South America recognized as a member of the Cutlery World Capitals Group, which includes 27 other cities in the world.

This group of cities has been recognized by the Association of Capitals of the World for Cutlery, an entity created in 1901 and headquartered in France. Starting Friday, many of them will meet at the 3rd World Meeting of Cutlery Capitals to be held in the Spanish city of Albacete.

At that meeting, the constitution of the International Network of Knife Cities will be signed, which will incorporate Tandil, for which the Chief of Staff, Oscar Troggi, and Sergio Lazart, have been invited as the sector’s representative.

In addition, they will participate in various meetings with members from other cities around the world and work towards the possibility of Tandil hosting the World Meeting of Cutlery Capitals in the coming years.
