Motorcycle riders attack diners at Cafe Saverios in Tijuana.

Caffe Saverios restaurant was robbed on Sunday 21st May around 1pm. According to official reports, at least two restaurants were able to report the incident, which happened at 1:50 p.m.

Witnesses said two armed men arrived at the scene on an Italica motorcycle. One of the suspects was wearing a black jacket, while the other was wearing a blue shirt and white clothes with blue pants. One of the witnesses could see the killers running towards the fast lane.

Police arrived about 30 minutes after the attack at 1 p.m., because diners had trouble reporting the incident to 911. Although the attack took place at 3:40 p.m., there was no official report of the attack in the social communication section of the Secretariat of Public Security of the City of Tijuana. Seven hours after ZETA Weekly requested an official statement, the linking piece has yet to share its official version of the facts.

Chef Javier Placencia posted on his Twitter account the split between Mayor Montserrat Caballero and Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, the first time in its 35-year history that diners have been robbed at the restaurant on Sonora Avenue.

The case has already been sent to the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), who will request images from private security cameras to profile the attackers.
