Mike Tyson points out Canoelo Alvarez’s setback against Dmitry Bivol

Mike Tyson, a former heavyweight champion and Hall of Famer, pointed out to Dmitry Pivol on Saturday the key factor in Sal ‘Canolo’ Alvarez’s defeat.

“If Canelo had used the job so efficiently and hard, the guy (Biol) would not have had the confidence and courage,” Tyson said in a video posted on social media.

“Pivol was attacking carelessly because of Canelo’s lack of jab. He became more aggressive. For the next fight, (Canelo) you have to use the jab more,” he added.

Alvarez (57-2-2, 39 KOs) was subdued by a unanimous decision against Biol (20-0, 11 KOs), who dominated 115-113 on all three cards. With the setback, the Mexican lost his WBO Light Heavyweight title. However, he still retained four middleweight belts.

“If I had used the job too much, the results would have been different,” Tyson concluded, retiring with a record of 50-5, 44 KOs.

According to CompuBox, Floyd Mayweather Jr. gave Pivol Canello the problem that no one has had since his defeat. Alvarez was outboxed in each round of the fight (he hit only double counts in two of 12 rounds) and scored only 17% of his total punches.

At the end of 2020, Tyson returned to the exhibition fight against fellow Hall of Famer Roy Jones Jr. (66-9, 47 KOs).
