McDonald’s Launches One-Day Fundraising Drive to Support Eastern Oklahoma Families Facing Food Insecurity

McDonald’s restaurants across Eastern Oklahoma are set to mobilise a regional charitable effort designed to bolster support for households experiencing food insecurity during the Christmas period. The fast-food chain has announced a one-day initiative in partnership with the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, pledging to donate a portion of proceeds from participating outlets on Tuesday, 2 December.

The campaign, which spans multiple communities across the region, invites customers to contribute simply by purchasing their usual McDonald’s meals. For the company’s locally owned restaurants, the initiative represents both a commercial event and a community-driven response to rising demand for food assistance as winter pressures mount.

A Regional Effort to Combat Hunger

The initiative was formally announced from Tulsa, Oklahoma, where McDonald’s representatives underscored the importance of local engagement. The company said the fundraising drive is intended to provide “meals and essential support” to households struggling to meet basic needs in the run-up to the holidays. While the mechanism is straightforward, the impact is expected to extend across several counties through the Food Bank’s established distribution network.

Thomas Nichols, a local McDonald’s Owner/Operator involved in the campaign, emphasised the collaborative nature of the effort and the role businesses can play in strengthening community support systems. “McDonald’s is honored to stand alongside the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma,” he said. “By coming together, we can help ensure more families have access to the meals they need during a time when community support matters most.”

Role of the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma

The Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, a year-round provider of hunger-relief services, partners with a wide range of community organisations to supply food to families, schools, and individuals in need. Its work encompasses meal distribution, pantry support, and emergency programmes that become especially critical during the holiday season. December typically marks a period of heightened demand, driven by increased household expenses, seasonal job changes, and school closures that leave children without access to regular meal programmes.

For the Food Bank, corporate partnerships such as this one-day McDonald’s fundraiser play an important role in sustaining its operations and widening outreach. Although the organisation did not issue its own statement in the press release, the collaboration aligns with its long-standing approach of working with regional businesses to strengthen community resilience.

Participating Locations Across Oklahoma

The participating McDonald’s restaurants span several towns and cities, reflecting the broad geographical reach of the initiative. Locations taking part include:

  • Bartlesville

  • Catoosa

  • Claremore

  • Cleveland

  • Collinsville

  • Mannford

  • Owasso

  • Pawhuska

  • Pryor

  • Skiatook

  • Vinita

Each outlet will contribute a share of its takings throughout the day, with no special menu items or minimum purchase requirements tied to the promotion.

How Customers Can Support the Effort

Customers wishing to support the initiative need only visit one of the participating branches on 2 December and order as they normally would. The company has positioned the event as an accessible way for the public to contribute to anti-hunger efforts without altering their usual spending habits. The simplicity of the model, McDonald’s said, is expected to encourage high levels of participation across the region.

Beyond raising funds, the campaign aims to increase visibility for food insecurity issues affecting Eastern Oklahoma. Local authorities, charities, and community groups have all reported rising pressure on food banks nationwide in recent years, a trend mirrored in the United States as households continue to face economic challenges. While the December initiative represents a short-term effort, McDonald’s and the Food Bank hope it will also draw attention to the need for consistent, year-round support.

A Call for Community Participation

The McDonald’s team concluded the announcement with a call for public participation, urging residents to take part in the fundraiser and help address hunger in their communities. The message was clear: “Let’s make a difference together this holiday season. Mark your calendars, spread the word, and join us in supporting our community—one meal at a time.”

For McDonald’s, the project reinforces its regional presence not only as a fast-food operator but also as a corporate citizen participating in community welfare. For the Food Bank, the partnership provides both financial backing and heightened public awareness at a crucial time of year.

As the holiday season approaches, the collaboration aims to transform everyday purchases into meaningful contributions, offering a straightforward way for residents to support families who need it most.
