Maxwell Football Club Names Matt Sieg as 2025 National High School Player of the Year

The Maxwell Football Club has confirmed that Matt Sieg of Fort Cherry High School in Pennsylvania has been selected as the 2025 Maxwell Football Club National High School Player of the Year, recognising one of the most accomplished careers in recent American high school football history. Announced in partnership with the Seiler Group of Raymond James, the honour will be formally presented at the organisation’s annual national awards ceremony, marking the 19th time the accolade has been awarded.

Sieg’s selection carries particular significance as he becomes the first West Virginia signee to receive the award, highlighting both his individual excellence and the expanding geographic footprint of elite high school football talent in the United States. The Maxwell Football Club’s National High School Player of the Year award has long been regarded as a bellwether for future success at collegiate and professional levels.

A Record-Setting Career in Western Pennsylvania

A four-star quarterback and free safety, Sieg is widely viewed as one of the most versatile and productive players in the country and among the leading overall prospects in the 2026 recruiting class. A multi-year starter at Fort Cherry High School, he authored one of the most distinguished careers in the history of the Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League (WPIAL), a competition known nationally for its depth of talent and competitive intensity.

Over the course of his high school career, Sieg compiled an exceptional 49–7 record as a starter, guiding Fort Cherry to consecutive WPIAL championships in 2023 and 2024. His offensive production set new league standards, with career totals of 12,592 yards of total offence and 139 touchdowns, both of which remain WPIAL records. These figures underscore not only his longevity but also his central role in Fort Cherry’s sustained success.

Dual-Threat Excellence and Senior Season Impact

Sieg’s reputation has been built on his rare ability to influence games both through the air and on the ground. He became just the second player in WPIAL history to surpass 4,000 rushing yards and 4,000 passing yards in a career. In doing so, he also established several firsts for the league, including becoming the first player to reach 5,000 rushing yards and 3,000 passing yards, and the first to rush and pass for 1,000 yards in three consecutive seasons.

His senior campaign served as a capstone to an already remarkable career. Sieg recorded 2,259 all-purpose yards and 30 touchdowns, while also contributing significantly on defence with 45 tackles and four interceptions. Those performances helped lead Fort Cherry to a 12–1 record and a WPIAL Class 1A semi-final appearance, reinforcing his status as a complete, all-phase athlete.

Recognition, Rankings, and National Standing

In addition to his statistical achievements, Sieg’s impact has been recognised through a series of individual honours. He was named Black Hills Conference Offensive Most Valuable Player on four occasions and earned WPIAL 1A Player of the Year distinction. He concludes his high school tenure ranked second in WPIAL history for career rushing yards with 7,941 yards, while also standing as Fort Cherry’s all-time leading rusher and passer.

National recruiting services have consistently ranked Sieg among the elite players in his class. He holds consensus four-star status and has received national recognition from ESPN, 247Sports, and Rivals, further cementing his profile as one of the most closely followed high school prospects in the country.
