KINETIC Explores Isolation and Cosmic Ambition With New “Dyson” Single and Music Video

Danish progressive metal band KINETIC has released “Dyson,” the second single and music video from its forthcoming debut full-length album, Liminal, as the group prepares for the record’s October 16, 2026, release through Eclipse Records.

The new track pairs the band’s progressive metal approach with a cinematic narrative centered on isolation, paranoia and internal conflict. “Dyson” is the second of three planned music videos connected to Liminal, a concept album that draws on scientific ideas about the development and technological capacity of civilizations.

Directed by Marcus H. Levin, the “Dyson” video follows a central character whose perception of reality becomes increasingly uncertain. The visual narrative shifts between the protagonist’s perspective and an outside view of his experiences, using an unseen presence to represent psychological struggles rather than a physical threat.

“Dyson” Focuses on Perception and Internal Conflict

KINETIC said the video was designed to reinforce the psychological themes underlying the song while presenting one of the album’s more accessible compositions.

“We chose Dyson as a music video because it is one of the album’s most immediately accessible songs” explains keyboardist Marcus. “At times, the audience is immersed in the central character’s distorted perception of reality; at others they observe him from an external perspective. Throughout the video, the protagonist is persistently haunted by an unseen presence – a manifestation of his own paranoia, inner struggles and unresolved emotions rather than a physical threat. The result is a visual journey that blurs the line between reality and perception, reflecting the psychological themes at the heart of the song, which is that many of humanity’s greatest struggles and conflicts originate from within ourselves. The message is a reflection on whether we can overcome those internal conflicts, step outside our own perspectives, and learn to see ourselves and each other more objectively.”

The visual concept complements the broader direction of Liminal, which KINETIC has structured around an interconnected narrative rather than a collection of independent songs.

Liminal Builds on KINETIC’s 2025 Debut EP

The upcoming album follows KINETIC’s 2025 debut EP, Sentience, and marks a substantial expansion in scale for the band. Liminal runs approximately 106 minutes and emphasizes extended compositions, technical instrumentation and atmospheric arrangements.

The record takes musical and lyrical inspiration from the Kardashev Scale, a theoretical system introduced by astrophysicist Nikolai Kardashev to classify civilizations according to the amount of energy they are capable of harnessing.

KINETIC uses that scientific framework as the foundation for a broader conceptual narrative. Rather than relying primarily on conventional verse-and-chorus structures, the band has incorporated long-form songwriting and cinematic arrangements intended to develop alongside the album’s scientific and philosophical themes.

The project also reflects influences associated with atmospheric and progressive rock and metal, with the original release citing Tool, Deftones and Pink Floyd as reference points for KINETIC’s approach.

Eclipse Records Sets October Release

Liminal was produced, engineered, mixed and mastered by Frederik Uglebjerg, whose credits include Galge, MØL, Trold and Isbjörg. Album artwork was created by Lasse H. Görlitz and Marcus H. Levin.

The 11-track record begins with “Beginnings” and continues through “Evolution,” “New Frontiers,” “Type 0.75,” “Fermi” and “Progress to One.” “Dyson” appears as the seventh track, followed by “Journey to the Stars,” “Digital Mind,” “2 to Five” and closing track “Omega.”

With “Dyson” now released worldwide on digital music platforms, KINETIC is continuing the rollout toward Liminal. The October release will give the Danish group its first opportunity to present its expansive progressive metal concept across a full-length record, combining themes of technological development and cosmic exploration with a more personal examination of perception and human conflict.
